Back-to-Back Men’s Basketball Champions

To win its second consecutive national title, Duke’s men’s basketball team had to get by Michigan’s “Fab Five,” a collection of heralded freshmen that led the Wolverines to prominence.

Duke didn’t just get by; it obliterated them. Leaning on the veteran savvy of forward Christian Laettner, point guard Bobby Hurley and the high-rising sophomore Grant Hill, the Blue Devils blew past Michigan 71-51 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN.
