What can the Netflix series Beef show us about racial guilt and racial rage? Do cute, Asianized objects spark joy or fetishize race? How can a self-described “favorite South Asian drag auntie” connect politics with pleasure?

“Feeling Asian American” is a symposium exploring the intricate emotional landscapes experienced by Asian Americans. This event delves into the diverse affects, feelings, and emotions that shape Asian America, including rage, guilt, joy, love, pleasure, and pain. By bringing together top scholars in the field, the symposium aims to foster a deeper understanding of how these emotions influence the making of Asian America.

Through talks, panel discussions, and a drag performance, the symposium will create a space for dialogue and reflection, highlighting the rich and multifaceted emotional lives of Asian Americans and their significance in contemporary society.
