The Lefkowitz Lecture is an annual event featuring distinguished scientists that aims to celebrate and highlight groundbreaking medical research in honor of Nobel Laureate Robert J. Lefkowitz, MD.
This academic year’s speaker is Akiko Iwasaki of Yale University, whose research focuses on the innate immune recognition of viruses and on developing vaccines and therapeutics. Dr. Iwasaki’s presentation will center on the “Immunology of long COVID”.
Dr. Iwasaki is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and a Sterling Professor, which is the highest honor Yale confers on professors. She is also the Director of the Center for Infection & Immunity at Yale School of Medicine, a member of NAS, NAM, AAAS, American Society of Microbiology, and is the new President of the American Academy of Immunologists.
This event will be hosted by Dean Mary E. Klotman, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, Duke University; Dean, Duke University School of Medicine and Nobel Laureate Robert J. Lefkowitz, MD, James B. Duke Professor of Medicine.
