The Allan H. Friedman Lecture series, established in 2014 and named in honor of the acclaimed Duke neurosurgeon, former division chief and former department interim chair, is an annual event that features high-profile speakers presenting on a variety of topics. The event includes the lecture at Grand Rounds and a dinner the evening before.

In 2024, the invited speaker is E. Antonio Chiocca, MD, PhD, brain tumor researcher and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
